Day 4 — Deliverance From Evil and Temptation

James 4:7 (KJV)
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Reflection

The Christian life involves a daily choice between good and evil. Temptation may appear through anger, dishonesty, envy, pride, addiction or the desire to hurt others.

Scripture teaches that spiritual strength begins with submission to God. We resist evil not simply by speaking against it, but by choosing truth, prayer, self-discipline, forgiveness and obedience.

We must also take responsibility for our actions and seek appropriate support when harmful patterns become difficult to overcome.

Today, examine your conscience sincerely. Ask God to reveal attitudes and behaviours that need to change. Remember that His mercy welcomes everyone who turns back to Him.

Prayer

Almighty God, I place my life under Your loving authority.

Deliver me from the influence of evil and strengthen me against temptation. Protect my thoughts, words and actions from everything that separates me from Your love.

Grant me humility to recognise my faults, courage to reject wrongdoing and wisdom to avoid harmful situations.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I may walk in truth, holiness and love.
